The ongoing series, UNDER OUR BONES, is a unity of works made of mixed materials such as ceramics, cotton fabrics, photosensitive chemicals, glass and wax. The series concept is structured by themes such as archaeology, the anatomy of the hybrid, fossils, and science fiction. Moreover, ancient drawings from caves and excavation objects are related to the series. Thoughts such as the non-linearity of time and reflection of a solid and circulated era of the past, the past and the future. In a way, the series is about an archaeology of the future where fantasy and reality have unclear limits.
Natalia Manta, an artist based in Athens, holds a BFA and an MFA from the Athens School of Fine Arts. Central to her artistic quest is the exploration of the mythological element as a revelation of an inner memory that springs to life in the present, entwined with local and global histories. While clay serves as her primary medium, she also adeptly navigates metal, wax, glass, and light-sensitive chemicals. Her work has been part of numerous solo and group exhibitions and finds homes in private collections around the globe.
