Cut-off hands, dissected from the one who carries them, are hung on the wall, resting after a day of work. Exhaustion, after all this labour. Tired Hands hold the tension between tenderness and resilience, making space for quiet strength to emerge from the fatigue of living. Sowing seeds of utopian ideas, the work reimagines elusive realities and weighty themes into shimmering expressions of sorrow and hope. A layer of powdered sugar veils anxiety and unrest, transforming them into something sweeter and more bearable.
Gašper Kunšič is an artist based in Frankfurt, Germany. His practice draws from Balkan folklore, pop culture, and catholic and socialist iconography, reconfiguring them into emotionally charged environments. Through spatial interventions and scenographic installations, he queers tradition, creating spaces of belonging for those existing outside normative structures. His work transforms archetypal symbols into theatrical compositions, balancing utopian aspirations with collective memory, layering sorrow and hope into shimmering visual expressions.
