The piece Exercising Democracy gives you, the spectator, the opportunity to speak up. Place yourself at the microphone and say or do whatever you desire. This performance is a first step towards another way of listening. A different kind of democracy. The performer, Thanasis Kritsakis, closed in an empty and exclusive space for 12 hours, is exercising himself/herself/itself in democracy. Staying in complete silence, unexpressed, and eating no food for 12 hours, he is completely available for the audience to speak. He will try to create a safe space only for the Other.

Thanasis Kritsakis was born in 1991 in Thessaloniki. He studied at the Theatre School of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki. He also holds a Master's in Political Science and Sociology and a Post-Master's in Collective Artistic Practices (Stockholm). He has worked and attended courses in Russia, Germany, and Austria. He has collaborated with important Greek and foreign artists and directed and written performances in important theatres and institutions (Athens Festival, National Opera, Stavros Niarchos Foundation, PLETA, etc.).

Thanasis Kritsakis se je rodil leta 1991 v Solunu. Študiral je na Gledališki šoli Aristotelove univerze v Solunu. Opravil je magisterij iz politologije in sociologije ter postmagistrski študij iz kolektivnih umetniških praks (Stockholm); obiskoval je študijske seminarje v Rusiji, Nemčiji in Avstriji. Sodeloval je z mnogimi grškimi in tujimi umetniki ter režiral in pisal performanse za pomembna gledališča in institucije (Atenski festival, Nacionalna opera, Stavros Niarchos Fundacija, PLETA itd.).
