Artwork: Augmented, Disruptive Tabbouleh Making-Unmaking (2024, durational food performance) / Umetniško delo: Augmentiran, disruptiven tabbouleh, pripravljanje-razstavljanje (2024, performans s hrano)

Augmented, Disruptive Tabbouleh Making-Unmaking is a durational, interactive performance that explores the tensions surrounding food. Blurring the boundaries between ritual and technology, it examines cultural relationships to food, its fetishisation, appropriation, and the impact of digitalisation. The performance features the artist preparing a large pile of tabbouleh, one of Lebanon’s most emblematic dishes, during an economic and political crisis. Simultaneously, she organises workshops and discussions about food through borders, appropriation, stories about culinary practices, and unusual recipes.


Dalia Khalife was born in 1992 in Beirut, Lebanon. She is a hybrid artist, scenographer, multidisciplinary designer, and dancer. A professor at the Lebanese American University, she works across installations, site-specific interventions, video, objects, painting, and performative gestures. Her practice explores psychophysiological happenings, spectacle, and play within power structures, social events, and rituals, creating ambiguous and vulnerable shared moments.

Interaktivni performans raziskuje napetosti v povezavi s hrano. Zamegljuje meje med ritualom in tehnologijo ter preučuje kulturne odnose na področju hrane, njeno fetišizacijo, apropriacijo in vpliv digitalizacije. Umetnica v performansu, v času gospodarske in politične krize, pripravlja velik kup tabbouleha, ene najbolj značilnih libanonskih jedi. Obenem bo potekala delavnica in razprava o hrani preko meja, apropriaciji, kulinaričnih praksah in nenavadnih receptih.


Dalia Khalife se je rodila leta 1992 v Bejrutu. Je hibridna umetnica, scenografinja, multidisciplinarna oblikovalka in plesalka. Je tudi profesorica na Libanonski ameriški univerzi, kot umetnica pa se ukvarja z instalacijami, intervencijami, specifičnimi za lokacijo, videom, objekti, s slikanjem in performativnimi gestami. Njena praksa raziskuje psihofiziološki hepening, spektakel in igro v strukturah moči, družbenih dogodkih in ritualih ter ustvarja dvoumne in ranljive skupne momente.
