It becomes more evident every day that “distance” is only a psychic and ideological construct designed to protect the artist from the nearness of things. The problem is not that things are truly distant but that they are in our faces – they are our faces. (T. MORTON) Waste is an artefact of our society, a symbol of consumption and capitalism. We understand it as small, insignificant objects, but it is difficult to imagine it as a single entity: a hyperobject that is omnipresent on our planet.
Lučka Centa, born in 1996, is an intermedia artist who lives and works in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University in Madrid and is finishing her MA thesis at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana. Her practice stems from exploring the intersections of performance art and installation art. Her work focuses on human and non-human relationships and interdependencies, highlighted by the environmental crisis and processing of her own eco-grief.

Lučka Centa, rojena 1996, je intermedijska umetnica, ki živi in dela v Ljubljani. Diplomirala je na Fakulteti lepih umetnosti na Univerzi Complutense v Madridu, na Akademiji za likovno umetnost in oblikovanje Univerze v Ljubljani pa končuje magistrski študij. Njena praksa izhaja iz raziskovanja presečišč performansa in instalacij, osredotoča se na človeške in nečloveške odnose in soodvisnosti, kot jih izpostavljata okoljska kriza in procesiranje ekološke žalosti.
