A video installation featuring an audio composition by composer and musician Dirar Kalash. Centring on a site in Abu Kishk, now enclosed by a military base fence, the video explores histories of displacement, contested memory, and colonial borders. Using a 1950s cosmonaut puppet from the SKD collection, the work expands on the first 18 years of German Jewish settlement in Palestine, focusing on their evolving relationship with Palestinian neighbours who were gradually displaced, culminating in their expulsion in 1948. The installation juxtaposes militarised fences, beekeeping, and cemetery remains, a reversal of geographical memories of occupation, exile, and permanent disappearance.
Yuval Carasso, born in 1992 in Petah Tikva, Occupied Palestine, lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He is a visual artist who simultaneously works in art and activism. His paintings, sculptures, and moving images reflect biographical elements scattered in the present, thus weaving different forms of storytelling through various media. Through his work, Carasso aims to investigate conflicting spatial positions, where the geographical and the political are inextricably intertwined.
